Primary Science and PSLE answering skills
Tuition can help a child connect an observation with the scientific idea that explains it. When reviewing a wrong answer, the tutor should identify whether the concept is misunderstood, the evidence was missed or the explanation is incomplete.
For Primary 3 to 6 support, bring the current textbook topics and a marked assignment. For PSLE preparation, specify Science or Foundation Science and use the examination format for the correct subject. Practise applying an idea to a new situation rather than relying only on memorised sentences.
Secondary Science, Physics, Chemistry and Biology
State the exact Science subject or combination. SEAB distinguishes standalone Physics, Chemistry and Biology from Science combinations such as Science (Physics, Chemistry). A request for Science alone may not give enough information at upper Secondary level.
For Physics, a tutor may work on interpreting a situation and setting up calculations; for Chemistry, explaining changes and applying concepts; for Biology, describing processes and interpreting evidence. Share the school year, examination year and syllabus so the proposed lessons match the course.
JC Science tuition
For JC tuition, state H1 or H2 and the exact subject. Strong school results in one science do not automatically establish experience teaching another subject or level.
Discuss whether you need content revision, problem-solving, data interpretation or help understanding practical work. A home or online tutor can explain practical concepts and planning, but do not assume private lessons include laboratory access.
Turn corrections into a useful revision plan
Keep a record of repeated errors and ask the student to explain the corrected answer. Separate knowledge gaps from careless calculations or unclear language so the next lesson has a specific purpose.
Choose manageable goals with the tutor, such as explaining a process accurately or interpreting a graph without prompting. Review progress using both everyday schoolwork and assessment results.
