Indicative hourly tuition rates
Use the table below to start a budget conversation. It groups the planning ranges already published on our homepage by level and tutor category. A quote may fall outside the range, particularly for specialist subjects or specific timing requirements.
| Student level | Part-time tutor | Full-time tutor | Current / former teacher |
|---|---|---|---|
| Preschool | S$25–35 | S$40–50 | S$55–70 |
| Primary 1–4 | S$25–35 | S$40–45 | S$55–70 |
| Primary 5–6 | S$30–40 | S$40–55 | S$60–80 |
| Secondary | S$30–45 | S$45–65 | S$60–95 |
| JC / IB | S$40–55 | S$65–90 | S$90–130 |
Planning estimates only, not fixed prices. Actual quotes may fall outside these ranges. Confirm the tutor’s rate, duration, materials and payment terms before lessons begin.
How to estimate the monthly cost
Multiply the hourly rate by the lesson duration and the number of lessons actually planned. Do not assume every month contains exactly four weekly lessons.
Budgeting example—not a quote: at S$40 per hour, four lessons of 1.5 hours cost S$240. If five lessons take place at the same rate and duration, the cost is S$300. Calculate each child and subject separately, then check the total against your ongoing budget.
What affects a tutor’s quote?
Academic level, subject expertise and relevant experience can affect rates. So can travel, online delivery, lesson preparation, duration, timing and demand. A tutor category is not a fixed tariff.
Compare the quoted price with the proposed support: experience in the actual syllabus, how corrections will be explained, what materials are included and whether the schedule is sustainable. A lower hourly price is not the only measure of value.
What to confirm before accepting
Ask for the full payment and lesson arrangements before committing. Do not assume that terms used by another agency apply to your request.
Before accepting an arrangement, confirm:
- The agreed hourly rate and lesson duration.
- The expected frequency and start date.
- Whether materials or travel involve additional charges.
- Who collects payment and when it is due.
- Any applicable agency, cancellation, replacement or short-term assignment terms.
